Google People Search: Google-ing People Made Easy!

Google is probably the most used search engine on the Internet, and that means people trust the results they get from this engine more so than from any other. This might be because of the equation they use to pull up results. Searching for things online can be hard if you are not sure how to do it, and that can mean looking for people on Google - or any other search for that matter - can be a little tricky too. If you know what to do, you can cut your search time down quite a bit and find what you need.

The first search you will want to do on Google is a simple search of a person’s real name. What will come up will highly depend on the name. If you enter a very common name, like Bob Turner, for example, you are going to be overwhelmed with the results that come up. You will probably get every result that has either Bob or Turner in them, and that means you can come up with thousands, if not millions, of results. That probably won’t help you much. You may have more luck with uncommon names.

When it comes to common names, there are a few things that you can do to narrow things down to more relevant results. If you put quotes around the name, you can going to get results that only have those two names together. What you will find when your get your results is that name only. Remember that there will be others with the name, so you have to see if the page might be relevant. If you are looking for someone was terrified of flying, any results talking about a pilot with the same name you seek probably aren’t worth clicking on.

When quotes around the name do not seem to be helping much, you can try to type the name out with a plus sign in between. This would mean your entry into the search box would be: Bob+Turner. This may or may not work better for you than the quotes. While the quotes and the plus sign are meant to do the same things, they often bring up different results.

When you use these tricks and still have just too much to go through in the way of results, you can add some terms that might define your missing person. If you know they are a doctor, add M.D. to the search. If they loved to play a sport or had a hobby that consumed a lot of their time, you can add any of that information to the search. You can still use the quotes or the plus sign to narrow it down. If that narrows it too much and nothing comes up, get rid of the quotes or the plus sign and then try again.
